Our chicks come from our Cream Legbar hens that have tested O/O homozygous allele for blue egg. As of 1-22-15 our Cream Legbar hens will be crossed with a cream split rooster (he is also O/O homozygous allele for blue egg). These will not be 100% cream legbars. There is a 50/50 chance of them being 100% cream legbar and a 50/50 chance of them being 100% cream splits (a cream split is a cream legbar that carries a recessive lavender gene). THEY WILL LOOK THE SAME, but may carry one recessive lavender gene. I wanted to be transparent and let you know this if you are planning to breed them. You will only know if they carry a recessive lavender gene by testing them. We recently lost our 3-year old cream legbar breeding rooster to frostbite. We will be looking for a new cream legbar rooster, and our plans are to have pure 100% cream legbars available in 2026. By the middle of May 2025, we plan to move our Cream Legbar hens to a pen under one of our Opal Legbar roosters to create a new line of cream splits.
