Welcome to The Back 40 Acres, LLC. My name is Michele, and I started The Back 40 Acres  in February of 2020, when I ordered my first 15 chicks and  first chicken coop. In June of 2020, I retired after teaching for 28 years (Young 5's through 8th grade).  In the summer of 2021, I decided to expand the color of eggs in my egg basket, and ordered some special chicks to develop egg color. In the summer of 2022, I hatched out my first olive egger chicks (Mars Bars). In February of 2023, I created The Back 40 Acres, LLC and began a breeding program. In March of 2023, The Back 40 Acres, LLC became MAEAP verified, and in May 2023, The Back 40 Acres, LLC achieved NPIP. As I write this, 2025 is coming to a close and I currently have over 100 chickens.  I have Black Copper Marans, Lavender Marans, Legbars, Cream/Opal Split Legbars, Opal Legbars, Ayam Cemani, White Leghorns, Zombies, Fibro Eggers, Welsummers, Silverudds, Lavender Olive Eggers and four generations of Olive Eggers.
